| Canton Tower The latest landmark in Guangzhou, Canton Tower, formerly known as Guangzhou TV & Sightseeing Tower, is an observation tower at 600m tall. It becomes the tallest tower in the world, replacing the CN Tower at 553m in Canada, which has held the title for 34 years. |

| Lizhiwan This old saying reminds us that not long ago, Guangzhou was a city with numerous waterways and canals, with a rich culture developed along the banks of the Pearl River. During the 20th century, many of these canals were covered over and turned into streets but the names of the streets remind us that water is never far away. The municipal government has recently completed a large renovation campaign to uncover one of these canals which stretches from next Shamian Island to Liwan Lake. Named Lizhiwan, boats are expected to be able to navigate this 743 meter-long waterway. With abundant trees, numerous shops, restaurants, old buildings and cultural and art museums, Lizhiwan canal is sure to become a major tourism attraction. |

| Guangzhou Chenghuang Temple The Guangzhou Chenghuang Temple, built in 1370, during the period of the Ming Dynasty, was the largest Chenghuang Temple of its time in the Lingnan Region. The temple, possessing the essence of the Lingnan architectural culture and Cantonese folk culture, has been a landmark of Guangzhou city in Ming and Qing Dynasties. In 1993, it was listed as one of the Municipal Cultural Relics of Guangzhou, and became closed to the publics until 2010. |

| Huacheng Square Huacheng Square is the large open area at the center of Zhujiang New Town. The huge square occupies 560,000 square meters augmented with trees, plants and even an artificial lake. Huacheng Square is surrounded by 39 modern buildings including the 2nd Guangzhou Children's Palace, the Guangzhou Opera House, Library and the Guangdong Museum. It was opened to the public in October 2010 for the grand opening of Asian Games. |

| Donghaochong Museum Donghaochong Museum is the first museum in Guangzhou dedicated to the city's special relationship with the Pearl River, presenting Guangzhou's river history and culture with a diversity of exhibits including old photos, paintings, models of ancient boats, tools and other items. The museum covers 680 square meters, portraying the trade environment, living conditions and history of those living besides the river with discovery for the development of Guangzhou. |

| Guangdong Museum The new Guangdong Museum located besides the river in Zhujiang New Town opened to the public from May 2010 and has already proven to be a triumph for Guangzhou with thousands of visitors flocking to discover an impressive building and well designed exhibitions. The museum has on display over 166,000 items spread over more than 20,000-square-meters of exhibition area. Access is free to all three parts of the museum – Lingnan history, natural history and art. The museum opens from 9am to 5pm from Tuesday to Sunday. |

| Huangpu Military Academy The Huangpu Military Academy, founded by Sun Yat-sen in 1924, was the cradle of Chinese revolution. The school’s major building on the original site was destroyed by the Japanese air bombing in 1938, and the rest were seriously damaged, until repairing in 1964. At present, the restored buildings that opening to the public are: the front gate of the academy, the school board building, Premiere Sun Monument and his memorial chamber, the club, the swimming pool, cemetery of the martyrs died in the Eastern Expedition, Monument to the Northern Expedition, Jishen Park, Jiaosi Pavilion and so on, totaling over a dozen. |

| Tomb of the 72 Martyrs As the birthplace of China's modern and contemporary revolutions, Guangzhou is a city of heroes with glorious revolutionary traditions. In modern history, three famous battles - Sanyuanli Militia Battle against Britain, Huanghuagang Uprising and Guangzhou Community Uprising, took place here. The story of the 72 martyrs took place during Huanghuagan Uprising, which was an unsuccessful attempt in 1911 to overthrow the Qing Dynasty's presence in Guangzhou. To commemorate the 72 martyrs who sacrificed themselves, the tomb was built in 1918. |

| Nanhai God Temple The Nanhai God Temple was originally built in 594 A.D. It is the largest and most preserved sea god temple in China today. Historically, it represented the starting point of the maritime Silk Road. During the Song and Yuan dynasties, Guangzhou's famous Boluo festival was held here and attracted hundreds of thousands of people annually. |

| Double-skin Milk Guangzhou's famous double-skin milk is made through the heating of milk. Hot milk is allowed to cool, creating a layer of "skin" on the top. The layer is then taken away and the milk is heated again with a variety of ingredients. The difference in picking the ingredients account for the many different variations of double-skin milk. The re-heating process captures more of the ingredients' flavors and accentuates the natural aroma and taste of milk itself. |

| Steamed Vermicelli Roll Steamed Vermicelli Rolls can be found in almost all diners, restaurants and local eateries in Guangzhou. It is made from a layer of rice vermicelli that is wrapped around one or several particular ingredients. Typical ingredients include meats, fish and shrimp. The rolls can also be made without any ingredients and served either sweet or salty. |

| Ting Zai Congee (Boat Congee) Ting Zai Congee (Boat Congee) is famous in Guangzhou with its history. In the past years, the riverside in western Guangzhou would awaken with poets and residents walking along the banks and composing music. The boat owners at this time would dock along the shore or row up to leisure boat offering a fresh bowl of congee filled with shrimps and fish. They cooked on the boat and the customer would eat there as well. Today, it becomes popular and can be easily found in restaurants even the food shops along the street. |
